Thai Exports Expected to Fare Better in 2016

BANGKOK, Nov 1 (TNA) - With only two months left before the end of 2015, Thai Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn said she would hold meetings with commercial counselors posted to embassies and consulates abroad to evaluate markets before the ministry could plan Thailand’s export target for 2016. It is hoped that Thailand’s exports for 2016 would fare better than this year which is projected contraction not less than 3 per cent due to favourable signs in the global market and full support given by the Thai government to push the country’s exports, said Mrs. Apiradi. The Commerce Ministry has adjusted marketing strategy, she said, adding that Thailand would next year focus on developing service sector as the country is recognised on its hygiene and beauty products worldwide and they could earn the country several hundred billions of baht annually . In short-term measure, the minister said, representatives of Commerce Ministry, the Board of Investment and businessmen would launch a roadshow to Japan and Iran in mid-November in an attempt to boost Thailand’s exports. The country is scheduled to participate in goods exhibition in Morocco in 2016. The Department of Business Development has been assigned to further develop retail and wholesale operators in communities on how to manage their income, decorate shops and communicating with their networks. Presently, more than 3,000 operators with their networks in 55 provinces in the country have been assisted. The assistance is expected to cover the entire country next year. (TNA)
