Thai exports via Laem Chabang Port likely to grow 6-7% in 2015

CHONBURI, THAILAND, July 27 (TNA) - Thai exports through Laem Chabang Deep Seaport in the Thai East are expected to grow by 6-7 per cent on average in the 2015 fiscal year, after a 7 per-cent growth in the first nine months. Laem Chabang Port Director Sutthinan Hattawong made the prediction on Monday, acknowledging, however, that the value of Thai exports via Laem Chabang Port should drop in the 2015 fiscal year, which ends on September 30, 2015, due to the depreciation of the Thai baht. Sutthinan pointed out that Thai exports through Laem Chabang Port grew by 7 per cent in the first nine months of the 2015 fiscal year. According to the port's director, Laem Chabang Port's overall business performance also expanded by 5 per cent in the first nine months of the 2015 fiscal year, based on its average business performance of 8 billion baht annually. The port's director noted that Laem Chabang Port, thus, plans to raise its capacity to accommodate exporting cars, from 1.2 million cars annually now. Besides, land traffic at the Laem Chabang Deep Seaport is being expanded from 4 to 14 lanes, expected to be complete by the end of 2016. (TNA)
