Thai finance minister meets WB, ADB executives

BANGKOK, May 4 (TNA) - Thai Finance Minister Apisak Tantivorawong has bilaterally met with executives of the US-based World Bank Group and the Manila-based Asian Development (ADB) to discuss cooperation between the two established financial institutes and Thailand on development projects in Asia and the Pacific. Accompanied by Thai Permanent Secretary for Finance Somchai Sujjapongse and other Finance Ministry representatives, Apisak first met new Vice President of the World Bank Group Victoria Kwakwa, who has taken her new office since last month, to discuss major cooperation plans between the World Bank and Thailand. Apisak and his team later met with ADB President Takehiko Nakao to discuss on similar cooperation issues in the region. In Frankfurt on May 2, the Thai finance minister also discussed a plan on upgrading the ADB Thailand Resident Mission (ADB TRM) to become an ADB regional headquarters to connect development and cooperation plans among ADB member economies in the region.
