Thai government's revenues increase in 2015 fiscal year

BANGKOK, June 29 (TNA) - Thailand's state revenues have increased by nearly 5 per cent in the 2015 fiscal year, which started on October 1, 2014. Kritsada Chinawicharana, Director-General of the Ministry of Finance's Fiscal Policy Office (FPO), told journalists on Monday that the Thai government had collected about 1.29 trillion baht revenues during the first eight months of the current 2015 fiscal year, a 4.8 per cent year-on-year increase. Kritsada attributed the Thai government's higher revenues during the period to more oil tax collection, liquidity surplus from its revolving fund and revenues from auctions of 3G and 2.1GHz frequency. According to the FPO chief, money left in the state coffer at the end of May 2015 totaled 134 billion baht due to public debt caused by the government's budget deficit of about 542.96 billion baht. The FPO chief acknowledged, however, that the Thai government's spending of about 1.83 trillion baht during the first eight months of the 2015 fiscal year, a 5.5 per cent year-on-year increase, has helped stimulate the national economy.
