Thai jasmine growers fetch good prices

NAKHON PATHOM, THAILAND, July 12 (TNA) - Local growers now earn up to 250 baht per liter from Thai jasmine and the price is expected to go further up during the Mother’s Day next month when a number of people opt to buy fresh jasmine garlands to pay respect to their mothers. Jasmine growers have to plan for suitable harvest time to ensure that the flower is in good condition for the market, or not too young and not in full bloom. Some orchards with good quality jasmine can sell the flower at good prices as high as 300 baht per liter. The prices of jasmine normally increase during religious days and special occasions, sometimes, for instance, reaching as high as 800 baht per liter on the Mother’s Day. In Thailand, jasmine is the symbol of the Mother’s Day, celebrated on the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, which falls on every August 12. Jasmine growers can earn a handsome income from selling their produce, which can harvest everyday with a well-organized cultivation strategy. (TNA)
