Thai PM to conclude plan to progress EEC by March

BANGKOK, Feb 10 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha is set to hold a meeting to conclude plans to propel the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), covering Chon Buri, Rayong and Chachoengsao provinces, especially on the five main investment projects by the beginning of March. Secretary to the Working Committee to Propel Development Policy for EEC Kanit Sangsuphan said by the start of March, Gen Prayuth would preside over the working committee to conclude 15 projects for the four EEC groupings, as well as to finalise investments in the five main investment projects, which are the core of EEC. He said the first five years of EEC development, there is a joint investment budget between the private and public sectors of 1.5 trillion baht, where all five projects would be linked together, including the development U-tapao airport, the expansion of Laem Chabang port, the construction of high speed trains, investments in hi-tech industries, such as electric vehicles, and the construction of three new cities of Chachoengsao, Pattaya, and Rayong.
