Thai PM gives priority to solution to low rubber prices

BANGKOK, January 8 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha gives priority to measures to solve the current problem of low rubber prices. Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, who oversees economic affairs, told journalists of the Thai premier's stance on Friday, noting that all concerned agencies are, thus, speeding up measures to solve the problem. The deputy prime minister acknowledged that the prime minister wants to concretely reform the Thai agricultural sector to sustain local rubber plantations in the long run with high prices and income. According to the deputy premier, the long-run solution can be implemented through adding rubber product values, as immediate assistance to local rubber plantations currently is only a short-term solution.
