Thai PM pledges to uphold national stability, support int'l investors

BANGKOK, February 27 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has promised that he will uphold and strengthen national stability to facilitate international investors in the country. Assuring business operators that his interim government will create a conducive atmosphere for international investment in Thailand, Prime Minister General Prayut said in his special speech delivered at the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) in Bangkok on Thursday that his administration will help eradicate obstacles for international investors. The prime minister insisted his government is prepared to assist the private sector so that it can help distribute wealth to people and strengthen the local marketing system through the production of innovative products and the development of outstanding packaging. Simultaneously, the prime minister noted, his government will accelerate addressing alleged human trafficking-related issues, namely illegal migrant workers, which pose cruxes and obstacles to business operators. On the part of investors themselves, the prime minister suggested that they explore ways to expand and link their investment projects with their counterparts in other member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to prepare themselves for the ASEAN Community (AC), set to be formed by the end of this year. Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister General Tanasak Patimapragorn told journalists that his ministry has briefed the international community on the Thai government’s attempts to address alleged human trafficking-related problems, strengthened Thailand's relations and roles with neighbouring countries and prepared the country for the AC establishment. According to the deputy prime minister and foreign minister, his ministry has also informed the world community that the interim Thai government is trying to restore the democratic system in the country as soon as possible, through its ongoing roadmap process.
