Thai prisoners to work in fishing industry

BANGKOK, November 22 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Justice says an idea recently raised by Labour Minister General Surasak Kanchanarat for freed prisoners or those to be soon released to voluntarily work in the local fishing industry is a fine idea. Permanent Secretary for Justice Police General Chatchawal Suksomjit made the comment on Saturday, noting that the Justice Ministry already has a policy to give an opportunity for prisoners who will be released soon or who have already been released and have sufficient knowledge and skills to work in the local fishing industry. According to the senior official, the policy will also help solve the problems of fishermen shortages and alleged human trafficking in the country. (TNA)
