"Thai smart biz" campaign launched nationwide

BANGKOK, May 31 (TNA) - The Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand, in cooperation with their alliances, have launched a "Thai smart biz" campaign, aimed to help develop local entrepreneurs nationwide to move forward towards Thailand's trade and services 4.0 era to concretely propel the national economic growth in the long run. Klin Sarasin, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce Board and the Board of Trade of Thailand, told journalists on May 30 that under the campaign, the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand will support the development of the supply side of local entrepreneurs in each province who are promoted to produce value-added "Thai smart goods or services" that are outstanding innovations for their respective provinces in line with the Thai government's initiatives on the creative economy, the digital economy and the cultural economy. Klin said for the demand side, the state-run Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has helped launch a campaign on promoting public awareness on consuming Thai products for national pride since March 2017, which has reached at least 25 million of local consumers so far. Klin announced that there will be two competitions to motivate local entrepreneurs to create and develop their innovative goods or services, the first of which will be for those who are ready to show off their provincial cultural-borne innovative produce and the second of which will be for those who are start-ups of business innovations. The top private executive explained that the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand will particularly support the start-ups whose business innovations for contest will be categorized into four groups, including food and beverages, coffee shops and restaurants; other consumer products, like clothes, jewelry, community and lifestyle products, as well as souvenirs; community activities; and tours, covering tourism routes and sites and accommodations. According to the top Thai private executive, the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand will help promote those who are "ready to go" in the "Thai smart biz" through publicizing them as "modeled Thai smart biz" and rendering a support for expanding their products to overseas markets.
