Thai SMEs products to be sold online

BEIJING, June 28 (TNA) - Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak has urged senior executives of Baidu Inc., China's search engine giant, to help promote on its online system goods manufactured by Thailand’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Somkid, who oversees economic affairs and is leading a Thai delegation to visit China for a business mission during June 26-30, raised the issue while conferring with Baidu executives in Beijing on June 27. Ways on developing Thailand’s economic structure in line with the Thai government’s policy were also raised at the discussions of both sides. Thai Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Minister Uttama Savanayana, who is a member of the Thai delegation, told journalists that Baidu expressed its willingness to help promote products of Thai SMEs if sufficient information on Thai SMEs products is given so that it will display the information on its international online system. Uttama said that Thailand’s Software Industry Promotion Agency (Public Organisation) has, thus, been assigned to coordinate with relevant government agencies, including the Ministry of Commerce, to cooperate with Baidu on the information on Thai SMEs products. Besides, the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports will cooperate with Baidu in preparing information on tourism destinations or Baidu Map in multi-languages to promote Thailand’s tourism. Established its office in Thailand since 2012, Baidu offers several online services, including its search engine system, as well as audio files and images. (TNA)
