Thai SMEs want to expand markets to CLMV

BANGKOK, July 19 (TNA) - The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) says that local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) want to expand their markets to neighboring countries in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam, known as the CLMV group, calling on the government's support for the move. FTI Chairman Chen Namchaisiri told journalists on Wednesday that the local SMEs want the Thai government to provide them with useful information on more market access to the CLMV group. Chen said local SMEs have also proposed that local commercial banks further cut their lending interest rates to help reduce their operational costs. According to the FTI chief, local SMEs have also proposed that the Thai government quickly solve the problem of city planning, which has delayed the development of the country's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Project, while promulgating practical laws to support the local business sector.
