Thailand’s auto production grew by 26% in H1

BANGKOK, July 19 (TNA) - Thailand’s car production in the first half of 2013 increased 26.35 per cent year-on-year to reach 1.34 million units, according to the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI). FTI’s Automotive Industry Club Spokesman Surapong Pisitpattanapong said car production in June was recorded at 217,110 units, an increase of 4 per cent year-on-year and a drop of 6.37 per cent from the previous month. Of the overall car production, a total of 540,303 units, 40.29 per cent, were manufactured for export, an increase of 14.87 per cent year-on-year, while 800,000 units, 59 per cent, were built for domestic sales, an increase of 3.14 per cent year-on-year, Surapong said. In June alone, a total of 95,139 cars were produced for export, accounting for 43 per cent of the overall auto production, while some 121,000 cars were built for domestic sale, accounting for 56 per cent, Surapong added.
