Thailand – China Business Forum to be held next week

BANGKOK, Aug 18 (TNA) - Over 300 leading Chinese businesses will attend Thailand-China Business Forum 2018 next week in Bangkok to explore investment opportunities in Thailand, Commerce Minister Sontirat Sontijirawong announces on Friday. The Forum is scheduled in conjunction with the 6th Joint Committee on Trade, Investment and Economic Cooperation on August 24 at Government House. Sontirat said organized by Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOI) the Forum would serve for both sides to set goals for bilateral trade, promote economic cooperation and trade expansion. The Chinese participants will be invited to visit Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), a massive development project combining industrial complexes, research institutes and transportation network in three eastern provinces. The Foreign Trade Promotion Department will simultaneously hosted business-matching activities, Sontirat said. Thailand placed emphasis on building strategic partnership with China by integrating China’s Belt and Road Initiative with Thailand 4.0 policy, he added. China is currently the largest market for Thai exports with the two-way trade valued US$73.6 billion last year. Sontirat said the two countries aimed to double trade value to US$140 billion in three years. (TNA)
