Thailand to become digital economy by 2021

BANGKOK, September 29 (TNA) - The government plans to develop Thailand to become an advance digital economy and society over the next 3-5 years. Thai Deputy Prime Minister Air Chief Marshal Prachin Jantong, in his capacity as Acting Digital Economy and Society Minister, told journalists of the plan at Bangkok's Government House on Thursday. "The Thai government is gearing up domestic infrastructure, human resources and digital networking development projects, based on its Thailand 4.0 policy, in order to turn the Thai Kingdom to become a digital economy and society by 2021", elaborated the deputy prime minister. The deputy premier said he is laying out management and operational systems for the newly-established Thai Ministry of Digital Economy and Society over the next one month and will introduce the new ministerial systems to the public. According to the deputy premier, the jurisdiction of the new Ministry of Digital Economy and Society covers, among others, the development of the country's integrated digital database to support all ministries and other relevant parties in proceeding with the government's Thailand 4.0 innovative policy.
