Thailand to boost exports to France, Germany

BANGKOK, July 21 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra says there are positive signs that Thailand will further boost exports to France and Germany despite the ongoing debt crisis in the eurozone. Speaking to the Thai public during her weekly broadcast from Paris today, Yingluck proclaimed that her visits to the two major European nations this week come at an appropriate time, as several European countries are confronting the financial crisis, but both France and Germany are Thailand’s key trading partners. Yingluck revealed that her trips to Germany and France is aimed at displaying concerns to both countries and building more confidence to their business operators to invest in Thailand, noting that several business persons in Germany and France expressed intentions to increase their investment in the Thai economy and enquired about the Thai government’s updated investment policy. According to the Thai premier, Thailand can export more jewelry, food and other products to France and Germany while Thai business operators who are accompanying her have an opportunity to discuss with their European counterparts. The Thai prime minister, who visited Germany earlier this week and is now visiting France, acknowledged that she had also requested leaders of the two European countries to offer special care to Thai business operators in their countries. Premier Yingluck said that German officials will soon visit Thailand to inspect quality of Thai fruits and vegetables and will inform the quality their country needs to the Thai exporters, which is a good opportunity for Thailand to ship more fruits and vegetables to the European market.
