Thailand to boost petroleum reserves

BANGKOK, November 27 (TNA) - Thailand is considering to boost national petroleum reserves for the sake of energy security. Thai Deputy Prime Minister Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong, who oversees energy affairs, was briefed by Energy Minister Anantaporn Kanjanarat of the country's updated energy situation on Friday. During the briefing, the energy minister also proposed that Thailand raise national petroleum reserves in response to the global situation. Besides, Thailand's electricity generating, new sources of energy and power plant projects should be proceeded as planned, but proposals to amend laws on petroleum and petroleum income tax should be postponed from next week's Cabinet meeting to the following week, as Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha is scheduled to be abroad next week and he should be at a Cabinet meeting to consider important legal amendments related to petroleum concessions. The energy minister noted that the ongoing fluctuation of oil prices was manageable. (TNA)
