Thailand, China to discuss bilateral trade on more farm products

BANGKOK, May 11 (TNA) - The Ministry of Commerce says the Thai and Chinese governments will discuss bilateral trade on more agricultural products in July 2015, after they recently sealed a deal in rice and rubber trade earlier this month. Thai Commerce Minister General Chatchai Sarikulya told journalists on Monday that at the second meeting of a Thai-Chinese committee on agricultural trade in Kunming on May 8, 2015, China agreed in principle to buy one million tons of Thai rice; while Thailand promised to deliver highest quality grains to China. Regarding rubber trade, General Chatchai revealed, Chinese officials will arrive for negotiation with Thailand's Rubber Estate Organization in mid June 2015 and he expects a deal on Thai rubber exports to the immense Chinese market at the next meeting of the bilateral committee. According to the commerce minister, Thailand will host the next meeting of the Thai-Chinese committee on agricultural trade in Nakhon Ratchasima Province in the Thai Northeast on July 2-3, during which both sides will also discuss trade in other farm products, in addition to rice and rubber.
