Thailand-EU urged to set up FTA

BANGKOK, April 28 (TNA) - The European-ASEAN Business Centre in Thailand (EABC) has called for the establishment of a bilateral free trade area or FTA between the 27-member European Union (EU) and Thailand. EABC President Rolf-Dieter Daniel made the call when he met Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittirat Na Ranong in Bangkok this week, pointing out that without the proposed bilateral FTA, Thailand would lose out promising investment opportunities in the EU. Daniel insisted that the EABC and the European business community will continue promoting Thailand’s competitiveness, investment attractiveness and potential status as an EU gateway to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN.
