Thailand invited to join in mega-investment in Kuwait

BANGKOK, July 12 (TNA) - Kuwait has invited Thailand to take part in the Gulf state's mega-investment plans. A visiting Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation, headed by MP Ali Al-Deqbasi, made the invitation while meeting with Thai MP Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, who heads the Thai-Kuwaiti parliamentary committee, in Bangkok on Friday. The head of the Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation said that Kuwait has a key strategic plan to build a new national economic city, together with the construction of an inter-country bridge, the world's 4th longest one, to connect the Persian Gulf with Iran and Babylon in Iraq and wants to invite Thailand to join in the mega-investment. The head of the Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation acknowledged there will also be more related mega-investment projects that Kuwait hopes for Thailand's participation, including those on the development of many deep seaports. Besides, Kuwait wants to cooperate with Thailand in the medical, healthcare, agricultural and tourism sectors. "As Kuwait is developing a new economic city and Thailand is developing the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), our countries should, therefore, enhance bilateral ties and cooperation on trade and investment, as well as all other dimensions", the head of the Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation proposed. The Kuwaiti parliamentary delegates are paying an official visit to Thailand this week to strengthen ties and cooperation with the Thai Kingdom and were welcomed by Wan Nor, after their earlier meeting with Thai Parliament President and House Speaker Chuan Leekpai. This week's trip to Thailand by the Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation followed previous talks between Thai and Kuwaiti parliamentarians on the sidelines of earlier world stages, including those organized by the United Nations and the Organization for Economic Co‑operation (OECD), aimed to jointly promote regional and international peace and to strengthen bilateral relations in political, economic, cultural and educational spheres, as well as all other areas.
