Thailand, Japan to jointly host 3rd Green Mekong Forum

NAY PYI TAW, MYANMAR, November 13 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha says that Thailand and Japan will jointly host the 3rd Green Mekong Forum in Bangkok in December 2014. General Prayut Wednesday notified delegates attending the 6th Mekong-Japan Summit in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar's capital, of the upcoming regional forum. Participants in the 6th Mekong-Japan Summit, held on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and other related forums from November 12-13, included leaders of Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Japan and Thailand. On the occasion, the Thai prime minister also proposed that Japan invest in connecting the Dawei special economic zone in Myanmar with Thailand's Eastern Seaboard. The Thai premier noted that his government is offering promotional privileges to investment in infrastructure, logistics, and regional offices, which should support trade and investment among Mekong Basin countries and Japan.
