Thailand, Laos to expand cross-border businesses

LOEI, May 24 (TNA) - Thailand's northeastern Loei Province and Lao PDR's Xaiyaburi Province have planned to expand cross-border trade and industries between the two neighbours. The President of Loei's Chamber of Commerce, Wa-san Kaeo-si-ri-ban-dit, told journalists that the plan was raised at a meeting between Loei's Chamber of Commerce and Xaiyaburi's Trade and Industry Council in Loei today, chaired by Loei Governor Som-pong Arun-roj-pan-ya. Wasan said Loei's business operators negotiated with their Lao counterparts to construct a cassava flour production plant in Xaiyaburi, worth 100 million baht, as a first step, while the Lao side eyed to expand its investment in Thailand over the next five years to reach about one billion baht.
