BANGKOK, May 28 (TNA) - Thailand and three neighboring countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have agreed on proceeding with their integrated power transmission cable project and will sign an agreement on the energy cooperation later this year. The Ministry of Energy reported on Thursday that Thailand and the three ASEAN neighboring countries are scheduled to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on their power transmission cable connection at the ASEAN Ministers of Energy Meeting (AMEM) in October. Thai Deputy Permanent Secretary for Energy Twarath Sutabutr told journalists that the issue on the regional energy connectivity has also been included on the agenda of the 33rd Senior Officials Meeting on Energy (SOME), being held in Malaysia's Kita Konabalu City from May 25-30. Twarath elaborated that the four countries are discussing at the six-day SOME the Lao-Thailand-Malaysia-Singapore Power Interconnectivity Project (LTMS PIP), which will enable their power trade in the future and will be a model of multilateral power connectivity.
