Thailand, Mongolia to strengthen economic cooperation

BANGKOK, April 22 (TNA) - Thailand and Mongolia plan to strengthen economic cooperation in the future, as Mongolia has abundant natural resources and its gross domestic product (GDP) has been forecast to grow up by about 11 per cent year-on–year. Delivering a speech on Mongolia: Current Affairs, Foreign Policy and Relations with Thailand at Thammasat University on Monday, visiting Mongolia's Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Damba Gankhuyag said that cooperation between Mongolia and Thailand has been developed in many areas, namely mining, tourism and cultures, through mutual high level visits, including the 2009 royal visit by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn to Mongolia. According to Mongolia's Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, his country's foreign policy covers further developing cooperation with other Asian countries, as well as supporting efforts to strengthen stability and to expand security cooperation in Asia. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations and Gankhuyag, thus, announced that Mongolian Prime Minister’s visit to Thailand has been planned later this year, with the schedule having not yet been set.
