Thailand promotes e-commerce

BANGKOK, June 27 (TNA) - The Thai government, through the Ministry of Commerce, is actively promoting electronic commerce (e-commerce) through world-class Internet-based operators, namely Amazon, Google and PayPal. Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn told journalists on June 26 that her ministry's Department of International Trade Promotion and Thai commercial office in Los Angeles organized an event to promote e-commerce in Los Angeles during June 12-18, in which 36 business operators participated and called for more such activities to develop their online business know-how. Apiradi said that Thai authorities there also met executives of Amazon.com Inc and learned that its e-commerce championship resulted from its swift responses to customers’ demand. Besides, the company has had a database on the spending behaviors of its customers and inventory, as well as packaging system that allows it to deliver ordered products within 70 minutes, along with keeping develop its quick and efficient services. Apiradi acknowledged that her ministry's Department of International Trade Promotion and Amazon plan an e-market bridge to link Thaitrade.com and Amazon to promote Thai products through the “One Click, Double Online Revenue” project, which is expected to happen along with the services of Thaitrade.com: SOOK. "Amazon has special proposals for participating Thaitrade.com members so that worldwide buyers can increasingly reach Thaitrade.com members and sellers can use comprehensive online services of Amazon,” the minister revealed. The minister noted that Thai authorities also met the management of Internet-based payment service provider PayPal and Alphabet Inc., which is the mother company of Google, a world most well-known search engine operator.
