Thailand to re-export LPG

BANGKOK, June 28 (TNA) - PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), Thailand's largest petroleum firm, says that it has decided to re-export liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to neighbouring countries, instead of imports for only domestic use. Saran Rungkasiri, PTT Chief Operating Officer, Downstream Petroleum Business Group, told journalists on Tuesday that the decision is in response to a declining demand for LPG on the domestic market. Touching on the just complete construction of a new LPG storage warehouse, Saran said that PTT is awaiting a response from the Energy Ministry on the amount of warehouse service fee. Saran made the remarks after presiding over a ceremony to bestow the Eco-Driving Award to 1,700 cargo trucks, equivalent to 30 contracts, which had helped save about 2 million litres of oil last year, worth about 50 million baht, and had helped reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 5,600 tonnes. According to the PTT executive, his company has targeted that domestic oil consumption by cargo trucks should further reduce by 5 million litres within 2018, worth about 122 million baht. (TNA)
