Thailand to send more workers to Japan

BANGKOK, September 12 (TNA) - Japan has increased its quota for Thai people wanting to work in the major Asian economy, from about 600 to at least 1,000 annually, prompting the Ministry of Labour to have planned to provide them with Japanese language training courses before they depart for Japan. Thai Labour Minister Phadermchai Sasomsap said the increased quota for Thai workers show that Japan has been satisfied with the potential of Thai workers. Phadermchai acknowledged the Japanese government's policy also reflects that Japan has remained confident in Thailand and has been interested in investing in the Thai economy. The minister told reporters that he has asked Japanese business operators wanting to recruit Thai workers to contact his ministry in advance so that his ministry will provide the language and other skill training for Thai workers to ensure their passage of tests held by the Japanese employers. According to the labour minister, his ministry has sent some 2,700 Thai people to work in Japan since 2009.(TNA)
