Thailand to start weekly orchids market

BANGKOK, January 18 (TNA) - Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will open on Monday the twice-weekly orchid market on a road beside the Government House next to Phadung Krung Kasem Road. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and the Prime Minister's Secretariat will organize the market for three months. It will open from 9am to 6pm on Mondays and Wednesday during the period. The market has been introduced to help Thai orchid farmers who are suffering from declining orders from local and international buyers. To stimulate demands, the market will source a wide range of locally popular orchids and also globally-renowned varieties. There will also be orchid trade negotiations and an exhibition of Thai orchid innovations. Besides, there will be a workshop on orchid care and residential decoration with orchids for interested visitors. (TNA)
