Thailand to take action against misbehaved foreign tourists

BANGKOK, March 8 (TNA) - Thai Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul has vowed to take legal action against foreign tourists, with no exception, who conduct misbehaviors or activities which are against the sound national image in public places. Kobkarn told journalists on Monday that she has assigned government officials concerned, as well as hotel and tour operators to inform foreign tourists not to conduct such the misbehaviors or activities in public places. Kobkarn insisted that local hotel proprietors are responsible and they should inform their guests not to perform such activities. The minister's remarks followed reports that some 20 naked foreign tourists swam off a beach in Hua Hin resort district of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province in the Upper Thai South on March 5. Meanwhile, tourist police said a lawsuit has been filed against a tour company which looked after the foreign tourists who behaved improperly while staying in Thailand. Besides, every hotel which owns a private beach has been informed to immediately report to local tourist police if such incident takes place again so that the police can control the situation. (TNA)
