Thailand welcomes more Chinese tourists

BANGKOK, January 22 (TNA) - Thailand welcomes more Chinese tourists, especially during the upcoming Chinese New Year Festival, as measures have been put in good place to provide security and facilitate their travels in the Kingdom. Government Spokesman Puttipong Punnakanta, who is also Deputy Secretary-General to Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha, told journalists of the well-prepared measures to welcome international visitors to Thailand, particularly those from China, after holding a meeting with relevant parties at Bangkok's Government House on January 21, including Immigration Bureau Chief Lieutenant General Surachet Hakpal, Government Public Relations Department (PRD) General Sansern Kaewkamnerd, Defence Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant General Kongcheep Tantrawanit and a group of Chinese journalists. "At the meeting, the Thai government authorities briefed the Chinese journalists on the well-prpared measures to safely support and facilitate Chinese visitors to the Thai Kingdom, including the visa on arrival system, the installation of advanced technologies at immigration checkpoints to quicken needed processes with preciseness and transparency and security measures", the spokesman stated. "As the Chinese journalists pledged to further disseminate the information, the Thai authorities asked them to also promote the Thai tourism among quality groups of travellers", said the spokesman. According to the spoeksman, the number of Chinese tourist arrivals in Thailand has been rising significantly so far. (TNA)
