Thailand's auto industry keeps growing in 2018

BANGKOK, March 8 (TNA) - The Thai automobile industry has kept growing, with domestic sale and exports of cars with different types expected to reach 900,000 units and 1.1 million units respectively in 2018. Chaturon Komolmit, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Grand Prix International Public Company Limited, quoted the Automotive Industry Club of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) as projecting the figures on March 6, while telling journalists that the 39th Bangkok International Motor Show will be held at the IMPACT Trade and Exhibition Center in Muang Thong Thani on the outskirts of Bangkok during March 28-April 8, 2018. Chaturon said the domestic auto market is believed to keep growing since late last year, as many people opt to buy new cars used for about five years, rather than spending their money on fixing them. Chaturon, who is also deputy organizer of the upcoming Bangkok International Motor Show, assessed that cars with moderate prices of about 800,000 baht and higher each should remain the best sellers this year, while purchase orders of luxurious cars should remain high as well. Chaturon foresaw that the number of reserved cars at the 39th Bangkok International Motor Show should be higher than 36,093 units slated last year, with eco cars of moderate prices expected to be top of the booking list.
