Thailand's auto production likely to meet target in 2015

BANGKOK, August 25 (TNA) - The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) says it is likely that the country's auto production should reach 2.05 million units as earlier targeted. FTI Vice Chairman Surapong Paisitpattanapong made the assessment on Tuesday, reasoning that Thailand's auto production last month rose to 165,863 units, a 9.6 per cent year-on-year increase. Surapong pointed out that Thailand's auto exports in July 2015 also increased by 11.52 per cent year-on-year. The FTI vice chair noted, however, that Thailand's auto sales dropped 12.5 per cent year-on-year last month and FTI is considering whether its target on domestic auto sales in 2015 should be maintained at 850,000 units.
