Thailand's competitiveness up

BANGKOK, September 4 (TNA) - The World Economic Forum (WEF) has raised Thailand's competitiveness in 2014-2015 to the 31st position with 4.7 scores out of 7, from the 37th position with 4.5 scores last year, based on its latest ranking among 144 countries worldwide. The Bank of Thailand (BOT) on Thursday expressed its satisfaction with the better national competitiveness, pointing out that it reflects the country's strong economic fundamentals. BOT Spokesman Jirathep Seniwong na Ayuthaya told journalists that the improved national competitiveness is significant, resulting from many economic indicators, including Thailand's macroeconomic condition, inflation, government budgets, health conditions and primary education. The spokesman stressed that the improved national competitiveness confirms Thailand's strong economic fundamentals and the WEF's latest evaluation is satisfactory and in accordance with previous evaluation by international credit rating agencies. The BOT spokesman acknowledged that an ongoing move on national reform in many areas should enable Thailand to further enhance national competitiveness.(TNA)
