Thailand's investment projects on the rise

BANGKOK, July 8 (TNA) - The Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) reports that foreign investors are building up confidence in the Thai economy, seen by their investment projects, worth about 300 billion baht totally, were proposed to seek the BOI's promotional privileges in the first half of this year. BOI Secretary-General Udom Wongviwatchai told journalists on Tuesday that the BOI, thus, maintains its expectation to receive requests from international investors' projects totally worth about 700 billion baht this year. Udom said that new foreign investment seeking the BOI's promotional privileges in the first six months of this year focused on service projects, as well as those on the production of automobiles, chemical products, electrical and electronic products and transport businesses. Udom acknowledged after the Thai army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has taken the national administrative power since May 22, 2014, arrivals of foreign investors from the United States and Europe have been rising, compared with those in the same period of last year, as international investors pay more attention to Thailand's long-term investment prospect and economic fundamentals, rather than domestic political problems.
