Thailand's rank in Global Real Estate Transparency Index up

BANGKOK, July 2 (TNA) - Thailand's latest position in the Global Real Estate Transparency Index, conducted biennially by Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), has steadily improved over the past decade, with the ranking in 2018 standing at the 34th position out of a total of 100 countries surveyed worldwide, from the 38th place in 2016. Speaking to journalists of the update, JLL Managing Director Suphin Mechuchep attributed Thailand's improving ranking in the Global Real Estate Transparency Index to the more accessibility to information on the domestic property sector by investors. Suphin stated that Thailand's ranking in the Global Real Estate Transparency Index within the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) framework alone now stands at the 3rd place, after Singapore and Malaysia, whose ranks are now at the 12th and the 30th places respectively. Suphin explained that the increasing number of listed real estate companies on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), which are all legally-required to publicly report their operational performances and property trade regularly at least once a year, has also enhanced the transparency of the domestic property sector. The JLL managing director said the Thai government's enforcement of property laws more concretely and practically and adoption of the digital system to legal processes in the domestic property sector have helped boost the country's ranking as well.
