Thailand's starting taxi fare frozen at Bt35 for three months

BANGKOK, May 17 (TNA) - Thailand's taxi cooperatives have agreed to freeze taxi starting fare in the country at 35 baht for three months to help shoulder passengers' rising costs of living. According to Thai Deputy Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Nuttawut Saikua, some 200 members of local taxi cooperatives who gathered on Wednesday at the Royal Plaza in Bangkok have agreed to maintain the starting rate for all cab rides at 35 baht for over the next three months, under a project on “Taxi wing Su Fad”. Over 70,000 members of all Thai taxi cooperatives will then seek talks with the government for a new fare rise, after the three-month period ends. (TNA)
