Kuala Lumpur, May 19, IRNA – Minister of roads and rural development, deputy energy minister, and mayor of Tehran are scheduled to leave Tehran for Singapore on invitations from that country’s officials to attend 4 international conferences held there simultaneously. The Minister of Roads of Rural Development Abbas Akhoundi is invited by the city-state country’s national development minister to participate in the 10th Asia Pacific Development and Infrastructure Ministers Conference. Deputy Energy Minister Sattar Mahmoudi is invited by Singapore’s environment minister to take part in the International Week for Clear Water and Environment gathering in that Southeast Asian country. The World Mega-cities’ Mayors Conference, too, will be held simultaneously with those two events in Singapore. Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf and his accompanying delegation are invited by Singapore’s trade and industries minister to attend the event. The three simultaneous conferences are scheduled to be held in Singapore from May 30 to June 4. Qalibaf proposed in late February, 2014, in a meeting with the visiting minister of foreign and legal affairs of Singapore that in the side events section of the World Mega-cities’ Mayors Conference there will also be an Asian Mayors Conference. The objective of that side event will be providing the Asian mega-cities a chance besides being benefited from the experience of the world mega-cities mayors, to also get acquainted with each others problems in close contacts, and establish cooperation bonds. Such issues as water and water resources and periodical acts are to be discussed among other issues in that conference, which will be opened with an address by Singapore’s prime minister./end
