Ties With JICA Will Help SME Corp Develop Entrepeneurs in Malaysia

By Kamaliza Kamaruddin KUALA TERENGGANU (Terengganu) , Sept 1 (Bernama) -- The cooperation with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will continue to help SME Corp Malaysia develop entrepreneurs in Malaysia. Terengganu SME Corp Malaysia Director, Muhammad Ibrahim, said JICA was an internationally-renowned agency that provided technical advice in various fields to many countries, including Malaysia, for over 30 years. He said SME Corp-JICA cooperation in the transfer of technology and skills was vital to help the socio-economic development of the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) here. "Last month, six SME Corp representatives, including myself, went to Japan to observe the operations of SMEs in Shikoku and Kagawa. "We found that Japanese SMEs focused on green technology, brand development, high value-added products and strategic marketing," he told Bernama today. Muhammad said the delegation was also advised on management and marketing methods to ensure that a product could be marketed in and out of the country. "We hope that with the new knowledge, we can help our local SMEs to expand their businesses globally," he said. The delegation visited Ishimaru Food & Noodles Co Ltd, which is the second-largest producer of udon noodles in Japan; Fukusuke Kogyo Co Ltd, a packaging company; Manten Hoshi Co Ltd; Kinryo Co Ltd; and, Honiya Ltd Co. -- BERNAMA
