TISI rises first time in four months

BANGKOK, November 22 (TNA) - The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) says that Thailand Industries Sentiment Index (TISI) stood at 92.8 points last month, its first increase in four months. FTI Chairman Payungsak Chartsutipol told journalists on Friday that the latest TISI survey on 1,042 operators in 42 local industries found the index, standing at 92.8 points in October, increased from 90.4 points a month earlier and showed its first rise after four consecutive months of its decline. Payungsak revealed that the projected TISI in the next three months stands at 102.4 points, rising from 100.5 points in September. Payungsak acknowledged that the FTI has, however, kept monitoring impacts from ongoing political demonstrations on confidence among local business operators. According to the FTI chief, local business operators want the Thai government to proceed with its new mega investment projects to stimulate the national economy, solve political strife to restore international investors’ confidence, secure border checkpoints to support economic growth in border areas and solve the problem of labor shortage.(TNA)
