Top minister says ASEAN member countries will take part in Russia’s Eastern Economic Forum

BANGKOK, August 10. /TASS/. Member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will take part in the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on September 6-7, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday after negotiations with Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai. "Our talks with my colleague and friend, Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs, have been constructive and, I’d say, rather effective," the Russian minister said. "Thailand is Russia’s oldest partner in Southeast Asia, and our peoples are united by long-standing ties of friendship, mutual respect and trust." "We are satisfied with cooperation in the investment sphere. Thailand’s companies are operating in Russia, and Russian companies are operating in Thailand," the minister said. "There are extra players on the economic market who are interested in investing money in Thailand’s economy." "We expect representatives from ASEAN member countries to attend the regular Eastern Economic Forum that will be held in Vladivostok in early September," Lavrov said. "A separate Russia-ASEAN business dialogue is planned as part of it." The third Eastern Economic Forum will be held in Vladivostok on September 6-7. The plenary meeting "The Far East: Creating New Reality" will be the forum’s central event expected to be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin. News agency TASS is the forum’s main information partner and operator of the forum’s investment projects presentation platform. Read more
