Total 340 mcm Gas Stored At Shourijeh

Tehran, Sept 2, IRNA - A total of 340 mcm of gas has been stored in the Shourijeh storage facility, said the managing director of Shahid Hasheminejad Gas Refinery Company. Nasser Eslami added that the Shourijeh facility has been established aimed to meet gas demand in winter. Serajeh gas storage facility is the country’s first gas storage facility located in Qom province, while Shourijeh is second, said the official. “Domestic companies have produced and installed 55 percent of the facility’s equipments. The rest were imported from Ukraine,” he said. Eslami put the cost of implementing the project at €18million and 120b rials. “The project was launched in 2010. In April, 2014, the facility’s compressors were installed. Currently, 7 mcm of gas are pumped into the facility daily. The figure is expected to reach 10 mcm per day,” he said. “By March 20, 2015, 1.08b cubic meters of gas are expected to be stored in Shourijeh facility.” It has been designed to extract 20 mcm of gas in the four cold months of the year. “We plan to increase the facility’s storage capacity to 2.4 bcm and 4.8 bcm in the next two phases of the project scheduled for next year,” he said. Eslami said Shahid Hasheminejad Refinery will produce 50 mcm of gas and will hopefully not face gas shortage in winter. Shahid Hasheminejad Gas Refinery Company is located 180 kilometers northeast of Mashhad in Khorasan Razavi province. It produces natural gas, sulfur, gas liquids and sweet and sour gas. The refinery was inaugurated in 1983./end
