Tourism Campaign Draws Int'l Visitors To Hat Yai

BANGKOK, April 18 (TNA) - A tourism campaign, with promotional activities launched by the local private sector, has drawn international visitors to Hat Yai of Thailand's southern Songkhla province, most of whom are Malaysian tourists. The “Hat Yai Five Surprises in Five Weeks” campaign, featuring discounts for accommodations, restaurants, shopping sprees, plane tickets and other services, has been jointly organized by a number of local business operators, including 20 hotels, four shopping malls, potential restaurants and spa and massage houses, as well as Thai Airways International (THAI), the national flag carrier, and Nok Air, the national airline's low-cost subsidiary. According to Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)'s Hat Yai office director Prapat Intanapasat, the comprehensive campaign is aimed at restoring and boosting confidence in the southern Thai business hub among international travellers in order to maintain the number of tourist arrivals in Hat Yai, as recorded prior to a car bombing in the city late last month.
