Tourism set to become Thailand's main economic pillar

BANGKOK, October 3 (TNA) - The Thai government, through the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, has targeted to promote the domestic tourism to become a main pillar of the national economy in the near future. New Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul announced the targeted goal on Friday, while presiding over an event marking the 12th anniversary of the establishment of her ministry. Kobkarn expressed her confidence that domestic tourism and sport activities can be successfully promoted to become a main pillar of the Thai economy although several countries have announced the same strategy. The tourism and sports minister also targeted that Thailand would earn 2.2 trillion baht from domestic tourism in 2015. (TNA)
