Trade turnover with China grows despite difficulties - Putin

MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. The trade turnover with China will reach 90 billion dollars this year and will continue growing despite the difficult economic situation, Russian President Vladimir Putin told his annual end-of-year news conference on Thursday. “China is our major trade and economic partner. We will have a trade turnover reaching 90 billion dollars,” he said. “It is growing despite all the difficulties of the world economy and will continue growing,” Putin said. The main task for the present is diversification of trade and economic ties between the two countries, the president said. There are positive trends. More attention is paid to the change of the trade turnover structure by enlarging its high technological part, he said. “We are building nuclear power plants and will continue to do it, if China is interested.” “We are working together in space, aircraft building - plane building and development of new heavy-class helicopters - and a number of other promising areas,” the Russian leader said. Moscow and Beijing have many coinciding interests in the international sphere, including stabilization of the situation on the international arena, he said. Russia and China cooperate closely in the United Nations Organization and the Security Council. The Russian-Chinese cooperation is one of the most important elements stabilizing the situation in the world, Putin said. Read more
