Transit Of Goods Via Mehran Border Terminal Up Five Times

Ilam, Sept 29, IRNA – Value of goods transited via the western Mehran border terminal grew by five times during the first half of the Iranian calendar year (started March 21), a provincial official said. Head of the Ilam Customs Office Khalil Heidari said the value of the transited goods shows an increase of about 568 percent according to the Iranian monetary unit rial. He said the total value of transited items through the international border point amounted to over dlrs 46 million. According to the official, the weight of the goods stood at 1,781 tons which were mainly transited to Iraq. The commodities included such items as air conditioners, liquid gas cylinders, TV sets, refrigerators, frozen chicken and heaters. The international Mehran point in west of Iran shares 220 kms of border with Iraq./end
