Transport services provided for Songkran revelers in Thailand

BANGKOK, April 12 (TNA) - Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport has coordinated with taxi cooperatives and the state-run Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) to provide services to Songkran revelers leaving and returning to the capital. Don Mueang Airport Director Petch Chancharoen told journalists on Tuesday although gasoline prices have declined, more holidaymakers prefer to travel by air. Petch estimated that 99,000–100,000 people should leave Don Mueang Airport on April 12, up 22 per cent year-on-year, while about 670 flights are expected to depart the Don Mueang Airport on the same day, a 30 per cent year-on-year increase. Petch also projected that about 110,000 air travellers should return to Bangkok on April 17 to resume work next Monday, while there will be 675 flights to provide services. According to the director, more than 1.06 million passengers should use the transport services provided at the Don Mueang Airport during Songkran celebrations, set from April 8 to 17. (TNA)
