Turkey ready to transfer Iran’s gas to Europe

TEHRAN, Nov. 07 (MNA) – Turkey's interim Energy and Natural Resources Minister Ali Rıza Alaboyun said that Ankara is ready to transfer Iran’s gas to Europe. The minister made the remarks during the 8th International Energy Congress held in Ankara. Turkey has turned into a grand energy terminal in terms of transferring gas resources among its neighboring countries, Alaboyun said and added “Every country’s energy and foreign policies are in direct connection. In the post sanctions era, access to Iran’s gas will be provided.” Turkey has a positive view toward transferring Iran’s gas through Turkey to Europe which can be done through a pipeline parallel with Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP), he added. TANAP is under construction and will transfer gas from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz through Georgia and Turkey to Europe. After Russia, Iran is Turkey’s second supplier of gas, providing for one-fifth of the country’s consumption. Turkey imports about 10 billion cubic meters of gas a year from Iran.
