Turkey to support everyone investing in country, deputy premier says

TOKYO (A.A) - December 6, 2011 - Turkish deputy premier has said that Turkey would extend a great support to everyone investing in the country. Ali Babacan assessed his talks in Japan and replied to questions of reporters on several issues in Tokyo. Babacan said that he held talks with Japanese officials and representatives of business world during his visit to Japan, and those talks were fruitful. "Some Japanese banks are eager to open offices in Istanbul. Nearly 700 businessmen attended Turkish-Japanese Economic Forum on Monday," he said. Japanese government and opposition wanted to boost their relations with Turkey, he said. Babacan said they fulfilled several reforms to assist the business world and investors. Replying to a question on relations with Syria, Babacan said that there was a problematic period with Syria where human rights have been violated. The measures that have been taken by Turkey would not affect daily life of Syrian citizens but financial sources of the Syrian administration, he said. In regard to the economic crisis in Europe, Babacan said bold steps were needed in Europe. "EU could not establish a control mechanism in itself," he said. Babacan said that Turkey had a sound banking sector and public finance, adding that Turkey had a powerful government which could make tough decisions when needed.
