Two more public-private-run industrial estates to be developed in Thailand

BANGKOK, February 5 (TNA) - The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), under the Ministry of Industry, plans to join forces with the private sector to develop two more industrial estates in the country's central and eatern regions, expected to be fully launched over the next decade. IEAT Governor Veerapong Chaiperm told journalists of the update on February 4, stating that the IEAT Board has approved the planned development of the two new industrial estates with Park Industry Co., Ltd. and C.P. Land Public Co., Ltd. in the central Ang Thong and the eastern Rayong Provinces respecitvely. Veerapong said the 1,398-rai industrial estate (2.5 rai = 1 acre) to be jointly-developed between IEAT and Park Industry Co., Ltd., named the World Food Valley Thailand Industrial Estate, will be located in Ang Thong as a future comprehensive food innovation city, under the concept of the combined ecological and Thailand 4.0 industry. Veerapong explained that the new industrial estate in Ang Thong will focus on innovative processes to produce more value-added goods in order not to only enhance production efficiency of business firms, but also cut their costs of food manufacturing with the quality of their food safety meeting international standards. Besides, there will be the development of clusters as their business networking with local communities to work together in the sectors of processed agricultural food and innovative food manufacturing, covering non-alcohol drinks and packaging businesses. The IEAT governor estimated that a budget of about 4.2 billion baht should be used for the development of the new industrial estate in Ang Thong over the next two years, after which all its zones should be sold out within five years, generating a total investment value of at least 40 billion baht and creating at least 6,300 jobs. The IEAT governor revealed that another 3,068-rai industrial estate IEAT will jointly develop with C.P. Land Public Co., Ltd., named the C.P. Industrial Estate, will be located in Mab Kha Wattana and Nong La Lok localities in Rayong's Nikhom Pattana and Ban Khai Districts to support the Thai government's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Project with a focus on smart electronic, electric and parts, modern automobile, digital, processed farm produce, biological plastic produce, medical and service industries. According to the IEAT governor, another budget of about 5.63 billion baht should be used to develop the new industrial estate in Rayong over the next few years, after which all its zones should be sold out within six years.
