UAE, Antigua and Barbuda sign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement

ABU DHABI, 13th October, 2016 (WAM) -- An Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (FIPA) was signed between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Antigua and Barbuda on Wednesday. The agreement was signed during a meeting between H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, and Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, where they also discussed ways of boosting bilateral ties in areas of economy and investment, and reviewed a variety of issues of common interest. ''The agreement is part of the UAE's quest to deliver development goals, diversify sources of national income, and attract more foreign investment. It also protects them from any commercial and political risks and provides full protection to individual investors and companies,'' said Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, after she signed the agreement with Charles Fernandez, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda. Relations between the UAE and Antigua and Barbuda have grown significantly. The two countries signed an agreement for air transport in August 2016. Antigua and Barbuda will open an embassy in Abu Dhabi. Antigua and Barbuda voted for the UAE's bid to host the Expo 2020 in Dubai and its ambassador is acting as a point of contact between the two countries. - (Emirates News Agency, WAM) -http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395301115440.html
